Nissan is putting the Murano back in the spotlight for 2027. The midsize two-row SUV receives a new Dark Armor trim, a sportier exterior appearance, and a simplified lineup designed to strengthen its appeal in an increasingly competitive segment.
Following the major redesign it received for 2025, the Nissan Murano enters the 2027 model year with a more focused identity. The biggest addition is the new Murano Dark Armor, a trim that brings a darker, more aggressive appearance.
A More Aggressive Design
The Nissan Murano had already moved away from the conservative styling of previous generations with its 2025 redesign. For 2027, Nissan takes that personality a step further with the new Dark Armor trim.
This version features 21-inch gloss-black wheels, dark exterior accents, black Nissan badges, and exclusive body details that give the SUV a much sportier presence.
The Dark Armor also adds unique details on the side sills and bumpers, along with a special badge on the front doors. Nissan offers six exterior color combinations for this trim, including Gun Metallic, Super Black, Scarlet Ember, Everest White, and Boulder Gray with a Super Black roof.
A Comfortable and Refined Interior
Inside, the Murano continues to focus on comfort rather than outright sportiness. The SUV seats five passengers and maintains a cabin designed for a relaxed, premium driving experience.
The new Dark Armor features a Graphite interior, complementing the darker exterior styling.
The Murano also offers a strong selection of technology and a cabin designed with long-distance travel in mind, making it an appealing option for buyers looking for a comfortable two-row SUV without giving up modern styling.
Turbocharged Engine and Standard All-Wheel Drive
The Murano continues to emphasize smooth performance and highway comfort. One of the biggest changes for the 2027 U.S. lineup is that all-wheel drive is now standard across the entire range, following the elimination of the entry-level SV trim.
That means every 2027 Murano is equipped to provide additional confidence in different driving conditions, particularly when weather or road conditions become challenging.
The SUV continues to use a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a nine speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is designed to deliver a balance of responsive performance, everyday drivability, and efficiency.
Nissan Reshapes the Murano Lineup
For 2027, Nissan eliminates the SUV trim that previously served as the entry point to the Murano lineup. As a result, the SL becomes the base trim in the U.S.
This changes the pricing strategy for the SUV. While the 2027 SL has a lower starting MSRP than the previous SL, it also loses some equipment, including the panoramic roof, Bose 10-speaker audio system, and integrated navigation.
Above the SL sits the new Dark Armor, aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive and aggressive-looking Murano, while the Platinum remains at the top of the lineup.
How Much Does the 2027 Nissan Murano Cost?
There is an important distinction between recently published pricing figures. Nissan lists the 2027 Murano with a starting of $43,990, while some publications show higher figures depending on destination charges and other pricing factors.
For U.S. buyers, it’s important to remember that does not necessarily represent the vehicle’s final out-the-door price. Destination charges, taxes, dealer fees, options, and other costs can increase the amount paid at the dealership.
A More Appealing Murano for 2027
The Nissan Murano 2027 may not represent another complete redesign after the major transformation introduced for 2025, but it brings several strategic changes that could make it more appealing to buyers.
The arrival of the Dark Armor gives the SUV a much more aggressive personality, while standard all-wheel drive strengthens its appeal as a vehicle capable of handling a wider range of driving conditions. At the same time, eliminating the SV changes the entry point of the lineup and makes the SL the new gateway into Murano ownership.
With its modern design, comfortable interior, turbocharged engine, and new personalization options, the 2027 Nissan Murano aims to remain one of the more interesting choices among two-row midsize SUVs.
The new Murano is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in fall 2026, giving buyers a few more months to wait before the latest version begins appearing on showroom floors.
